Cleghorn - About Oberdorfer Pumps

Oberdorfer pumps are made in corrosion-resistant bronze for use with seawater and fresh water as well as diesel fuel and other light, free-flowing oils.

Centrifugal pumps
Oberdorfer's small bronze centrifugal pumps are well suited to clean water transfer and circulation duties against low heads.  Supplied as bare-shaft pumps, with ball bearings and a mounting foot, they can be driven directly or fitted with a pulley for belt drive.

The centre-suction models are non-self-priming and require a flooded inet line.  There is a 1" self-priming model.  All models have mechanical shaft seals.

Performance:
- non-self-priming:
- flow rates from 15 to 300 litres/minute
    (3.3 to 66 gallons/minute)
- heads up to 21m (70ft)

- self-priming:
- flow rates up to 90 litres/minute
  (20 gallons/minute)
- heads up to 10m (33ft)

Gear pumps
Gear pumps deliver low flow rates at relatively high pressures, and are ideally suited to handling oils and lubricating liquids.  Unlike gear pumps in cast iron and steel, Oberdorfer bronze gear pumps can handle fresh water and seawater without corrosion and rapid wear.  Once wetted, they are self-priming.  Shafts are sealed with a packed gland.

Performance:
 - flow rates from 4 to 650 litres/min
  (1 to 175 gallons/minute)
 - pressures up to 10 bar (150 psi)
